Gambling Problem?

Question by jzimmerman56301: Gambling Problem?

I have a huge gambling problem. I’m 25 now, it started around the time i was 20. For a while i just wouldn’t go.. Until last year I won 3000 dollars at a casino. Ever since then ive gone about every two weeks around the time of my paycheck.. Sometimes I even skip paying bills, I hate doing it and it’s getting out of control. It consumes my thoughts when I sit at home or even at work. I’ve even resulted to taking the insurance off my car, that seems to help somewhat because I won’t drive without insurance but I can’t live without transportation to see my kids, what should i do?

Maybe you should just do free online stuff because you got lucky when you won that 3000 dollars it will probably not happen again so just get over it.

any addiction is a very hard thing to stop. gambling is hard due to the fact that some people may not understand it. they can see the drug users and alcoholics effected because they can watch them inject or put the drugs into their body’s and know they are addicted to a drug. with gambling you are not putting anything in your body for your body to depend on so sometimes this type of addiction seems not as serious or a real addiction. however we know it is. i suggest going to a gambling addictions group asap. you have to treat this as any other drug addiction. for your sake and your children’s go immediately. you have to want to stop or you will only relapse. you are to young to destroy your future, stop now.

First, I commend you for recognizing your problem and wanting to do something about it. It would be easier to deny it or think that you can beat this on your own, but you are smarter than that. Good for you!

You need professional help and it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. From the sound of it, you are nearly hitting bottom already. Help is available from the state gaming authority where you live or from the casinos themselves (contrary to what you may think, they don’t want to take all your money and leave you destitute). Harrah’s, for example, has a program with a national hotline (800) 522-4700 to direct you to help in the states where they operate casinos. Ask about ’self restriction’ at the casinos near you. Do the right thing and act right away, your kids deserve the best parent they can have and surely you want to be a good example for them. Good luck.

BE A MAN AND THINK ABOUT YOUR KIDS, tell yourself that you are better than that, that you control your gambling not the other way around
