Day 064: Today FGR wanted to get involved in the August Alphabet Set and chose a theme of Nerdiness. So here I am at my most nerdy. I feel uniquely qualified for this challenge – I’m spending my summer doing research into non-destructive testing via eddy current and impedance analysis for virtually no money, spend my evening playing a MMORPG called Eve, take a photograph of myself every day and have a wonderful variety of extremely geeky books including one on copyright (Free Culture by Laurence Lessig). I think I win.
(Bonus confession: I used to play Dungeons and Dragons, and would play it again if a suitably enthusiastic and yet recognisably human group approached me.)

I didn’t intend to do another jumping shot for a while, but I just couldn’t pass up the 365 days podcast challenge to jump like Mikey. Safety first kids!

20/2/08 : i had to drive out to see a supplier in ilkeston today. i used to live out that way. i’d pass this disused railway line on the grounds of the old stanton pipe works and long to go exploring. they’re pretty strict about not letting people onto their site though. health and safety and all that. fair play. i didn’t go far
so, anyways, on my bucket list is a desire to do a bit of urban exploration. i find urban decay and abandonment absolutely fascinating. seeing the wonderful photos pebbles. takes has only increased this desire. but i’ve been too chicken thus far to just go somewhere and explore. one day though. one day.

if haven’t been living in a hole lately, you’ve no doubt heard of chat roulette, which pairs you and you’re webcam up with a total stranger. 9/10 out of ten, its a dude showing his junk i hear, but there have been some awesome moments, which the interweb has brought to us. recently Merton got his 15 min of fame after improvising on the piano to his strangers (ben folds just payed tribute to him), but before that there was this gem called how to win at chat roulette. hence, my idea, also inspired by Terri’s pic yesterday.

Growing up, my Mother was a piano teacher. My first love affair with music was running in my socks across the piano. I quickly learned that bare feet got pinched between the keys. We had an old piano that was not worth much since it was broke and needed repair so my Mom let me go wild on it. Yes, I was an odd child. I decided to recreate the moment for TaCWD&D and for FGR.
